Cracked tiles on floors and walls is a problem because it can be difficult to track down the source of the crack.

Porcelain tile is a type of ceramic tile though it is made from finer denser clay and is fired at higher temperatures. Polished porcelain tiles have a bright shine and an elegant finish. Use them in place of limestone or other soft honed stone tiles for style. There are hairline cracks running through the tiles on all three walls both vertical and horizontal.

They are stain resistant water resistant and can withstand heavy foot traffic. In far more instances the crack was caused by anomalies under or around the tile. It can be swept and mopped with ease. While most types of tile can handle a lot of abuse they are not indestructible and hairline cracks may occur.

On shower walls countertops or anywhere you like porcelain tile can really show other tile who s boss and look good doing it. The substrate is cementitious backerboard and as far as i can tell the tile was installed with thinset. They work well in as polished floor tiles in entryways or on shower walls where marble would stain. In many cases the crack is not the result of an inferior tile.

There is a ceramic soap dish in the corner and even it is cracked. I have been called to inspect a shower with ceramic tile walls. Matte porcelain tiles work well in all areas of the home and can provide a more subtle look. Tiles provide a durable covering for floors walls and backsplashes.
