A loose handle should be tightened to function properly. The handle is moving freely on both sides and it appears to be unlocked but it just won t open. Twist the hinge rail screws a quarter turn each counterclockwise using a flat screwdriver. You will very likely need a new lock as the spring inside has probably broken.

I even walked around to the outside of the door and nothing. The hinge rail runs vertically along the hinge side of the door. A pella storm door that is difficult to open or close may be the result of a faulty or misaligned door latch. Once you have a hole you can use a small flat blade screwdriver to push the latch over and open the door.

I have a full view pella storm door that is now refusing to open. Click here to post comments. Pry off the plastic covers loosen the screws and slide the strikes up or down a few millimeters. If you cant get help from pella let me know and i will see if the lock is available.

The door might be difficult to latch and release if the strikes are misaligned. If the door hangs or doesn t latch the door latch is not properly aligned.
